Help us build the future of digital identity
At Signicat, we believe great digital experiences start with consistency, usability, and inclusivity. We're looking for a Design System Engineer to join our Design System team, someone who’s not only passionate about clean, scalable UI but who also deeply understands accessibility and loves enabling others through tools, documentation, and collaboration.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and maintain native web components in our design system to integrate modern front-end frameworks
- Collaborate closely with designers and developers to ensure UI consistency across our platforms
- Ensure accessibility compliance across components (WCAG 2.2 AA) with both automated and manual testing
- Drive adoption and education, supporting product teams in implementing the design system and components effectively
- Work with Storybook and Figma to create, document, and align UI components with design tokens and guidelines
- Improve documentation and tooling, making it easier for teams to contribute to and consume the design system
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience with native web components, Shadow DOM, Custom Elements, and the npm ecosystem (publishing, versioning, dependency management)
- Strong front-end skills with a solid foundation in vanilla JavaScript and TypeScript
- Practical experience with modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or similar
- Deep understanding of CSS custom properties (variables) and how to use them for theming and design token integration
- Solid grasp of responsive design principles, layout systems (Flexbox, Grid), and scalable UI patterns
- Hands-on experience with design systems—either building, maintaining, or integrating them at scale
- Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2) and best practices for inclusive design
- Proficiency in Storybook, including addon integrations, accessibility testing, and documentation
- Comfort with Figma, and the ability to translate between design tokens, libraries, and code
- Excellent communication skills—you enjoy explaining concepts, writing documentation, and collaborating across teams
Bonus points if you:
- Have worked in a multi-brand or multi-product environment
- Have contributed to open-source design systems
- Are familiar with native web components or design token tooling (e.g., Style Dictionary, Tokens Studio)
- Have experience with accessibility audits and tooling (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse, screen readers)
- Have worked on micro-frontend architectures, integrating design systems across distributed applications
- Have experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Are comfortable working with CI/CD and deployment pipelines for automated builds, testing, and package publishing
- Understanding of UX/UI design principles and workflows
What we offer:
- Your tech, your way - choose the tech gear that aligns with your comfort and meets your preferences
- Hybrid work style - collaborate with the team in-office several days a week and embrace the flexible work model
- Work-life balance - enjoy an extra 5 paid days off annually, and we will celebrate your work anniversaries with additional days off to recognise and reward your milestones.
